Ethics & safety

What we will not do, written down before you ask.

An educational pilot working with people's decisions has to publish its limits, its complaint routes, and its failures. This page is the standard we hold ourselves to.

Policy suite v1.0.0

Principles

Five commitments that govern facilitation

Dignity

No exercise requires a person to disclose more than they choose. Nobody is made an example of. Facilitators do not interpret a learner's history back at them.

Agency

Every activity can be declined without penalty to assessment. Withdrawal is available at any point, and no learner is asked to justify leaving.

Non-coercion

We do not use scarcity pressure, shame, loyalty framing, or escalating commitment in teaching, in sales, or in retention. If you need to think about it, that is the correct response.

Proportion

Claims are kept proportionate to evidence. Where we do not know, we write that we do not know rather than reaching for a persuasive phrase.

Correction

When we are wrong, we correct the record visibly and date the correction. Silent edits to published material are not permitted.

Scope limits

Explicitly outside the scope of this programme

If your need is on this list, this programme is the wrong instrument. Say so on your application and we will decline honestly rather than enrol you.

  • Therapy, counselling, or psychotherapy of any modality
  • Medical, psychiatric, diagnostic, or medication advice
  • Legal advice or representation
  • Crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, or emergency support
  • Licensed professional training or supervision
  • Accredited university education or academic credit
  • Deception detection, behavioural profiling, or interrogation technique
  • Any claim of neurological change, trauma healing, or guaranteed results

Incident response

The escalation ladder

Facilitators follow these six steps in order. There is no discretion to skip a step.

  1. STEP 1

    Pause

The facilitator stops the activity immediately — before responding to content.

  2. STEP 2

    State the limit

The scope boundary is said out loud, plainly, without implying fault.

  3. STEP 3

    Offer a private check-in

A one-to-one conversation is offered, off the record, with no assessment consequence.

  4. STEP 4

    Signpost

Appropriate external services are provided in writing. No clinical advice is offered.

  5. STEP 5

    Record

The event is logged with a reference, severity, and action taken within 24 hours.

  6. STEP 6

    Review

The case is reviewed at the weekly safety meeting and, where needed, the policy is changed.

Complaints

How to raise a concern

Complaints are reviewed by someone not involved in the matter. Assessment disputes go to an independent second marker, whose mark may be higher, lower, or the same.

Acknowledged

2 working days

You receive a written reference number.

Outcome

15 working days

Or a revised timeline, in writing, with a reason.

Appeal window

20 working days

One appeal on process, new evidence, or proportionality.

Transparency log

Open cases and closed cases

Once the pilot produces real records, aggregate case data is published here every quarter.

The case records below are demonstration entries created to show the reporting format. No real complaint or incident is represented.

If you need urgent help right now

This Institute cannot provide crisis support and does not monitor any channel for emergencies. Contact your local emergency number or a recognised crisis service in your country. We will always pause a session and signpost rather than attempt to help beyond our competence.
